Demolition : Day 1
it was "D-day" alright!
Before I unveil the demo video I took at 5:03PM PDT, I want to start at the beginning of our first day experiencing the kitchen and dining room renovation. (And forgive any typos, please!)
First: Have you ever hired a contractor to do a kitchen renovation? Did you make any change orders . . . on DAY ONE?!
Our Project Lead arrived at 9:00AM today, and by 9:15, Ron and I had requested at least two change orders!
One was for our master bathroom shower window, originally to be part of our “Phase 2” master bathroom renovation plan. But, since the team will already be replacing three windows on our west-facing wall, we figured they might as well plug in a fourth window and they can do all the replacements and stucco patching and painting at the same time. It will save us a bunch of money, right?!🤣
Well, what it WILL DO is make our master bath shower GONE, but there’ll be a nice window there! We will shower in the guest bathroom.
The second change order was to replace the glass in our living room window, because it got all foggy and weird. That change will generally have only positive results from the get-go!
There were a couple of small change orders that involve them doing an HVAC checkup, and something else I forgot.
And now, on to the exciting “End of Day One” video:
The Great Room is starting to emerge!
So, here’s the even wilder part of the story:
Two men did all that work in 5 hours.
Absolutely amazing focus and dedication. We know we picked the right team for our projects!
I might not post updates for a few days or more. Ron and I will take advantage of our upcoming weekend at home for music practice, laundry, and other important chores. Plus I have a few dates set up with some of my favorite female friends for lunch, dinner, and wine & bubbles sipping! After that, I won’t be seeing them until at least July.
SIDE NOTE: This all seems very superficial compared to the research and writing I normally do on this Substack. YES, there are serious issues that require intense awareness and discernment so that we can effect positive change. And yet, on deeper reflection, I look at it as Ron and I doing our own customized RESET. We are re-membering and re-newing our commitment to each other, to our innate ability to create and to manifest a beautiful reality, despite the darkness and despair of the artificial social constructs! This is about using our every available resource to ensure that the systems causing harm REAP WHAT THEY SOW. It has always been my greatest wish that harm is deflected back upon the ones who inflicted it or who helped it to happen. Why do THEY seem to avoid the “karma” they foist upon US?
P.S. Ron and I are in a local hotel, just to get away from the noise for a couple of days. I am hoping to catch up on my beauty sleep. Ron encouraged me to rest until I’m good and ready to get on with the day. He will wake up early tomorrow (he pretty much does that anyway😉) and go home in time to greet our Project Lead to discuss Day Two!
Wishing you all the love, joy, creativity, and well-being that you can handle!
💖 Sharine.

I often use buying (or reforming) a house as an example to people who all agree to do due diligence when buying a house, read documents etc. Yet they let an unknown substance with unknown effects be injected into their body without informed consent. These folks all agree that their body is more important than their house. Basically they've lost the plot.
Home renovations I always do the destruction part. I'm really good at it. $aves a little. Looking forward to seeing how this goes for you and Ron.
