Strikes me as a lot of truth in this. I think this ties in with secular version of "Growth Mindset" vs "Scarcity Mindset". I also wonder if the idea of "bargaining or making deals with God through prayer" is part of the Fawn/Appeasment defensive Nervous System state our culture teaches us to inhabit?
